Grabbed some yummy Fro-Yo with the charming and lovely wedding planner, Holly Schoenke of Simply Sweet Weddings! Introducing our Type A Bride Minute video with Holly.
who’s Holly Schoenke?
First off, let me say – Holly is adorable.
And, um, I LOVED her shoes.
Bio from her site | While pursuing a degree in accounting at Loyola Marymount University, Holly knew there was something missing. Never one to settle, she decided to pursue a career in wedding coordination. In her senior year, she landed an internship with celebrity wedding planner, Mary Dann, and fell in love with the business.
Under the wing of the most sought-after wedding planners in Southern CA, paired with her experience managing a small event site in San Juan Capistrano, Holly learned the ropes of the industry and soon decided to start her own practice…Her enthusiasm and compassion for clients is contagious and makes brides and grooms feel at ease under her care.

what other wedding planning advice do you have for brides?
There are so many things I can give advice on:
- Put your contracts in a 3-ring binder
- What kind of questions to ask when you interview vendors
- How to save money on cake
But the biggest piece of advice I can give –
Don’t take yourself too seriously!
You have to really remember what the day’s about. You’re making a huge commitment. You’re joining 2 families. It’s so awesome.
Now, God forbid the DJ says a wrong name, a bridesmaid walks in wrong during the grand entrance, or the groom says the wrong words. You know what? It gives your wedding more character, makes it more memorable.
You have to make sure to hire the best vendors you can that fit your style and go over all knitty gritty details with the planner. BUT to really set yourself up for success despite whatever happens, just let it roll off your back. Remember you get to spend the rest of your life with the man you love.
