Confession – I had never used an SLR ’til after we started in wedding photography.
I remember fumbling around with the buttons and settings and being overwhelmed with it all. Having shot weddings years before, David was my teacher and the techie nerd so it worked out well that that was his passion to learn. My “strength” back then was more of the AHHH LOOK AT THOSE SHOES or crying with the brides during emotional moments at her wedding.
But I remember when we were first talking about going into wedding photography, I was led to a website that, ’til this day, blew my mind as to what wedding photography could look like: Junebug Weddings.
Being a huge lover of all things wedding, more than any other editorial or even photography association, Junebug Weddings never ceased to inspire me with jawdropping imagery. It is where I found photographers I fell in love with like Jerry Ghionis, Susan Stripling and Angelica Glass. I SO badly wanted to shoot even SOMEWHAT like them someday. But I thought, eh, could never…ever…ever. The camera seemed way too intimidating.
Fast forward 4 yrs.
I cried when I was contacted by Junebug Weddings.
David and I are incredibly, truly honored to have been recognized with an international award in the Best of the Best 2013 for Best Engagement Photos & Portraits.
Back in 2011, we had been accepted by Junebug Weddings’ World’s Best Wedding Photography.
This year our images were measured anonymously (without our names attached) against thousands of other incredible photographers and images from around the world. And we can’t believe it but David and I both got awarded.
AHHHHH!
We are so grateful to our God and Savior who blessed us with this opportunity without Whom we could do nothing, to all the incredible teachers and mentors who inspired and helped bring us to this point (especially Jaimee Hubert, Scott Robert Lim, Kenny Kim and Mike Colon), and to our couples whose love stories have moved us since we started.
And thank you, thank you to our readers, friends, and fans for all for your amazing support and love!
