In loving memory of Joshua Wong and in honor of one of the most beautiful families we’ve ever met, we’re honored to share with you a precious Christmas family photoshoot that remembers the Wong family son and brother, Joshua, who went home to his Heavenly Father.
the story of the joshstrong28 journey (from his family)
On January 17, 2016, after some swallowing difficulties, we received the devastating diagnosis of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). A week later, Joshua underwent a surgical biopsy, hoping that genomic testing of a tissue sample with give us future insight on best treatment options for Joshua. The procedure was flawless, a success. What we never expected was the late effects during recovery. Within an hour, a brain hemorrhage, massive inflammatory response, left Joshua unresponsive, on a ventilator, barely able to keep his heart beating.
A number of devastating setbacks kept Joshua in the hospital for 80 more days until he was able to go home. He remained at home in the loving care of his parents for another 5 1/2 months until Our Heavenly Father took Joshua on September 25, 2016. With an original prognosis of only several weeks, Joshua was able to survive and thrive for so much longer than anyone anticipated.
