God gave us the most amazing Christmas gift this year.

Once I [Drexelle] read the pregnancy test, I couldn’t stop crying.  I rushed over to the doctor’s to get the official test.  When I sat down and waited for the results, I couldn’t keep calm.

Nurse: “Now it’ll take a few minutes for the results to show.  …Wait, that was fast.  Yup, you’re pregnant.”

I drove on home, debating over and over again on how to share the news with the hubby.

I ran into the house, threw a blanket over my head, and waited for David.

David: “Honey, are you okay?”

NINJA FAST!  I surprised him with:

Me: “You’re gonna be a DADDY!”

David (for the next 15 minutes): “WHA…WHA…WHAAATTT?!”

Since both of our families have been praying to Jesus to give us a baby for so long, we decided to wait ’til Christmas to announce the big news.  Waiting weeks to share the good news was agonizing…to which David said, “Now you  get what I went through when I waited to propose to you?”

Yes.

…So I have a fascination with penguins.

Even pre-March of the Penguins, they were my favorite animals.  Certain penguins find the right “rock” to ask the girl to be his.  They’re together for life. They endure the world’s harshest conditions for their family. Yada yada yada.

So we got each member of the family these ridiculously cute baby penguins and labeled each one with what the baby will call each person.

The one I made for my Dad (it’s his first grandbaby):

 

WHEW!  It feels so good to be able to share it with everyone now.
