So I’ve been mostly stuck at home the past week being with all the symptoms Nyquil provides relief for so I’ve been forced to do the unthinkable – eat healthy.
Thank God for David who’s taken up the challenge to even learn how to make lemon tea and his newest creation, a yummy beef stew, to care for me. I admit I like being spoiled by him.
But, oh, to eat unhealthy again.
So I thought I’d celebrate Friday with some good, wholesome, unhealthy food.
So we’ve been obsessed with watching food shows on TV lately, particularly Man vs. Food, Bizarre Foods, etc. Now why we let ourselves undergo the torment of seeing incredible food but not eating it, I can’t say. But when we get ready to travel, what we dream most about in these new places is the food.
A chronicle of our favorite foods up in San Francisco!
For breakfast…
Located in Washington Square, we waited an hour in line, but come on – great breakfast food can be worth it, right? It was.
Our favorites:
The waffles
Dungess Crab Benedict with spinach
Topped with some of Mama’s Spiked Lemonade (Sauvignon Blanc swirled with Fresh Lemonade and Soda)
You can try Mama’s breakfast here.
For lunch…our fave spot
Our absolute faves? Our thoughts on the must try’s…
Shrimp and grits
Beignet flight – because you all need your daily dose of sweets. The flight below, by the way, fed 4 people.

…and for dinner!
This is Francis Coppola’s European-style cafe and restaurant serving heavy but delicious Italian cuisine. We actually had the pleasure of seeing Francis Coppola just a few booths down dining while working on his laptop.
Our favorite dish: Linguine alla Vongole (fresh clams, white wine, parsley and red pepper flakes)
Of course, it’s also a great place to enjoy his selection of wines.

…and when it’s time for caffeine after your body is succumbing to the food coma
This coffee shop makes only one cup at a time! So there is a wait but we’ve got to say after searching around, our favorite coffee was worth it: Ecstatic iced coffee
