For today’s FLASHBACK FRIDAY for PHOTOGRAPHERS!
How to Prepare for Emergencies
There have been lots of scary stories of weddings gone wrong. It’s helpful (though painful) to watch these examples of photographers in scary situations.
Example #1
The brilliant thing he did: Throw his camera before being dunk in. Insurance saves those photos.
Example #2:
Photographer didn’t get to throw his camera out of the way…photos…all…gone.
what can you do to help prepare yourself?
- Watch each other’s backs | If you’ve got an assistant/partner, it’s great to keep an eye out and signal if anything looks like it may go wrong. Headsets are definitely helpful in that area rather than yelling across a wedding ceremony.
- Have an emergency kit of your own | We always bring our own little emergency kit that includes fashion tape, hair spray, visine, oil wipes, pieces of candy, anything that the bride, bridal party, family or guests may need when they face their own dilemma.
- Scout the location | Scout the location beforehand for spots of where you’ll shoot and keep an eye out for hazards (like water fountains).
