Photoshop: Before and After

August 8, 2012 by D. Park Photography Leave a Comment

When some people think Photoshop, they think:

Maybe not exactly that.

But we get it.

There are some crazy amounts of Photoshop out there!  Everyone’s got their own style.  So what is our retouching like?

Here’s a snapshot from our Snow White & the Huntsman inspired shoot.  This is how it looks straight out of our camera.

after artistic retouching

Here’s what it looks like after our lab’s postproduction:

For you curious photographers out there, we used:

Lightroom

  • Exposure
  • Contrast
  • Sharpness
  • Crop

Photoshop

  • Patch tool to remove blemishes
  • Curves to add a pop of contrast and for color correction
  • Totally Rad Actions: Troy
  • High Pass to sharpen certain details only
  • Hue/Saturation to make the reds pop
  • Levels to add a little vignette

Photoshop retouching makes the biggest difference when you print and make the photo larger.  Many people see just the computer screen and it can be hard to see all the little details.  But let’s zoom in a little so you can see what a difference it can.
