what is mission visual?
straight from their bio | When we started filming weddings, video was a curiosity, and oftentimes a luxury. Now, video is an established must-have for the bride that truly honors her own memories, and those of her family old and new. We went to film school. We have insurance. We have won awards. 2008 and 2009 Videographer of the Year by The Knot Best of Weddings Magazine. 2009 and 2010 Brides Choice Award at WeddingWire. And yet, we still just love a good party, a funny moment, and a toast that brings people together.

what’s the difference between videographers + photographers?
Wedding films are more about motion, music and sound. We capture the minutes inbetween. Both are super important. I’ve never been to a wedding that didn’t have a photographer. The photographer is sort of mandatory and the wedding film is kind of a luxury.
It’s hard to be good at both. They’re either really good photographers or really good filmmakers. They’re not good at doing both.
what are the top things a bride should look for to pick the right videographer?
- experience
- personality
- style
You can’t base it on price because it’s an experience. There are a lot of different factors that go into it. When someone calls and says, “How much do you cost?”, that’s a tough question. There are so many things that can be different from one wedding to another.
Look at the work and person first and then decide if it fits your budget. Maybe change your budget if it’s really important if you have a good wedding film. You can’t go in with a set number. There are companies all over the board. You can get a $10K wedding film and a $500. The difference is in the edit and what they do with the footage.
what are some things to look for in the edit?
It should just move you. There are a lot of different styles. Determine if your personality can be represented by that person and filmmaker. Music plays a huge part in that. If you’re into Green Day and you’re looking into some video with a lot of slow motion and dissolves, that won’t be you. Talk to the videographer and tell them what you are looking for. Say your style: maybe fun, choppy, MTV style or perhaps romantic, slower and beautiful. The editing plays a huge part in that. We can shoot it the same way and edit it as totally different films.
