Introducing a gorgeous couple and their emotionally moving wedding celebration – Cynthia and Josh and their breathtaking Diamond Bar Center wedding.
the love story
Josh and Cynthia met at the age of 18 years old. Their career ran parallel, as they both held the same position and had the same responsibilities at a start up company. This kept them busy and the only times they would see each other were at company meetings.
It wasn’t until Valentine’s Day, 2010, 10 years later where their fate would take a turn. It began with a text from Cynthia, who wanted to watch the movie “Valentine’s Day” starring Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift, to name a few; and wanted someone to watch it with.
Josh received this text from Cynthia mistakenly believing that it was a personal text asking him on a date later to find out it was a group text sent to a few of her friends.
Josh didn’t end up meeting up for movies that evening, but did connect via phone later that night to express his interest in pursuing something further than a friendship. She was caught by surprise that someone she knew, for as long as she did, had those types of feelings for her. It took her a couple of days, but she took up the offer to go on a date.
There was a little quaint ltalian restaurant down the street Josh selected called “The Big Red Tomato” for their 1st official date.
Needless-to-say, there was a 2nd and 3rd date and the start of their romantic relationship.
romantic proposal (from the bride)
It was March, 2013. Josh’s sister called me and asked if I would like to co-plan Josh’s birthday as we did the past year and I gladly accepted. I was in charge of finding a private room at a nice restaurant so we can have an intimate dinner with both our immediate families (his family flying in from San Francisco and my family coming from LA). I also sent over pictures of Josh and myself to his sister, as requested, to compile a slideshow for him. Knowing Josh is the sentimental type, I didn’t think much of it until we arrived at the restaurant, sat down at the table in front of a giant screen and viewed the slideshow that “Josh” made for us! It was simple but very touching. At the end of the slideshow, I turned to Josh and saw him on his knee, he said something I don’t remember, and proposed.
This best thing out of the whole lead up to the proposal was what Josh did a couple days prior. He went over to my parents house alone, knelt down in front of both mom and dad and read an open letter to them in Chinese (while he had to get some help translating from his cousin) and asked for my hand in marriage!
It melted my heart.
the wedding day
The day was filled with so many amazing details.
Cynthia’s elegant bridal attire and jewelry
Steve Madden bridal heels
Her jawdropping Brocade reception wedding gown details
Cynthia and her mother – love this photo – so beautiful.
The day began with a traditional and elegant tea ceremony
Josh had to win the bridesmaids’ approval to gain access into the tea ceremony room. They had him give money and even perform with his groomsmen like a boy band to earn his way in.
The day was filled with people full of so much joy and beauty. It was such a pleasure to capture them.
Love the bridesmaids.
Cynthia, you looked incredible.
Their wedding ceremony
The awesome groomsmen
Cynthia and Josh had an amazing spirit-filled ceremony. They had all the guests unplug all electronics and enjoy the outdoor ceremony barefoot.
They had a tearjerker foot washing ceremony. All the guests (including me) found ourselves crying unexpectedly over the beauty of them serving both their parents and then each other by washing each other’s feet.
The vows were heartwarming.
And hilarious.
Fun-loving, this couple knew how to make their wedding a party.
So excited to share their breathtaking romantics around Diamond Bar
Their reception was full of so much celebratory moments!
This couple is so giving. They had a special casino and raffle that raised money for charities near and dear to their hearts.
What a night!
Best father/daughter dance ever
As an alternative to a wedding cake, they had shaved ice from New York Snow.
Their aunts surprised them with an awesome dance performance! Love this.
Then, Cynthia surprised Josh with her own incredible performance – including an awesome rap number with two of her ladies.
It was a night filled with beautiful love <3
congratulations
Cynthia and Josh, it was an honor to capture one of the most beautifully moving weddings we’ve ever witnessed. We were in tears of joy during your entire ceremony. What a celebration. May God richly bless your beautiful hearts as you journey this life as one!
