Madeline Garden Wedding | Alexis + Michael

November 10, 2017 by D. Park Photography Leave a Comment

Introducing this amazing couple and their beautiful Holy Family Catholic Church and Madeline Garden wedding.

So thrilled to share with you one of the most eloquently told love stories we’ve witnessed.  You have to hear how beautifully it’s told by the couple themselves!

the love story (from the groom)

Our story starts like most stories do, with a glance. Other people start their stories with a look or a kiss, but then you’re losing the build up. You’re forgetting where you were for the secret looks, the holding of hands, the small things that, in hindsight, make the kiss inevitable.

I don’t want to forget the way my hands shook before I tried to hold hers. I don’t want to forget how unfamiliar and strange it felt when she first hugged me. I don’t even want to forget the first time we went to a fancy restaurant and stared in wonder at all the forks.

So we’ll start with a glance. Sideways, as they most often are, from the furthest reaches of the eye: the corner.
Moving day for the dorms, ensconsed in the hustle and bustle and something that’d be nearly forgettable if not for the 13 years that followed. 13 years that lend one moment of indefinable importance.

Because that glance would’ve been, or could’ve been, unimportant. If not for learning each others’ names hours later, holding hands days later, and that first kiss a week later, that glance could’ve just been a glance.

But here we are, with that glance being the tip of a glacier (a trite but apt comparison when you consider the speed of our relationship). There we were, and here we are.

romantic proposal (from the bride)

Gyeongbokgung is probably my favorite place in Korea. I mean, it’s a real life piece of history right in the middle of Seoul and you can simply stroll through it whenever you want (during open hours of course). Honestly I can never get enough! The colours, architecture and history just call to me. What’s even better, is that Michael feels the exact same way.

Rain or shine, we love exploring the palace and taking pictures of it during every season. While it always looks beautiful, we find it to have a particularly romantic glow about it when it rains. So it happened to be a rainy Tuesday, when we made a trip over to the palace in August.

Michael thought it might be fun to dress up and take some pictures in the rain and since we both had the day off, it was perfect timing. While it was a bit tricky trudging through the mud, we were able to get some pretty nice shots. Unfortunately, humidity and I are not friends so any pictures with me in them were just a complete mess. Other than that, it was a lot of fun.

As the rain started to pick up and it started to get darker, we decided to find a nice spot to take some cute pictures together before we headed out. Once we found the perfect spot, my boyfriend set up the camera. As we started discussing poses, he suddenly dropped to his knees and gave me a big hug. Then when I looked down, he was holding open a small cream box containing the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen… upside-down! It happened so quickly, he didn’t realize it was upside down until I started laughing.

When the laughter subsided, there, in the middle of a beautiful palace glistening in the rain, the love of my life popped the question.

It was truly a fairytale moment that I won’t soon forget. After 13 years of dating, my college sweetheart and I are finally going to tie the knot! I’m not sure what married life has in store for us, but I’m definitely looking forward to starting this next chapter of our lives together.
