Following a timeline and using a wedding calendar is a simple way to take the stress out of your wedding. We have come up with a checklist for you to go through your wedding perfectly:
Things to do as soon as you become engaged
- Share the awesome news with close family and friends
- If both sets of parents are yet to meet, arrange a get together.
- Set a wedding budget
- Prioritize what are your top 3 must-haves for the wedding to help you prioritize
- Decide what tasks need completing and who is responsible for what
- Book your photographer and videographer (we book out up to 2 years in advance!) and the most important vendors you personally care about!
- Arrange a first meeting with your officiant to set a date for your wedding
- If you are having a civil ceremony, then book the registry office or civil venue
- Send ‘Save the date’ notifications with venue details to abroad or out of town guests
- Make appointments to say YES to the dress
- Choose your bridal party and witnesses
12 Months before the big day
- Book a venue for your wedding
- Set up a personal website to keep your friends up to date about your wedding
- Finalize guest list
- Send out save the date cards or emails
- Hire a wedding planner
- Book the date for your engagement session
9 months before the big day
- Arrange to visit caterers (food tastings!)
- Arrange to visit a florist
- Choose dress
- Book honeymoon
- Book caterer
6 months before the big day
- Book a florist
- Choose a hairstylist
- Choose a make-up artist
- Remind out of town guests to book accommodations
- Choose your gift list
- Go for a 2nd dress fitting
- Choose wedding rings
- Order wedding cake
- Choose bridesmaids dresses
- Book transport for the day
3 months before the big day
- Enjoy your engagement session!
- Discuss the services with your officiant
- Select Hymns and order of service/choose readings if desired.
- Ensure passports are valid for your honeymoon
- Arrange for a tasting of the food to be served
- Discuss service details with ceremony officials
- Send out wedding invitations
2 months before the big day
- Draw up a wedding day timetable
- Book a make-up trial session
- Book a hair session and be sure to take any veils/headpieces you will wear
- Organize Bachelor + Bachelorette parties!
- Buy gifts for bridesmaids / parents of the bride and groom
- Contact vendors to re-confirm bookings
1 month before the big day
- Go for final dress fitting
- Ensure you have paid all of your vendors
- Give notice of marriage to your local register office (unless you are marrying in the Church of England/Church of Wales)
- Confirm honeymoon bookings
- Ensure that you get your engagement ring cleaned
2 weeks before
- Sort out local currency for your honeymoon
- Wear in your new wedding shoes
- Pick up wedding rings
1 week before
- Reconfirm details with your venue (dates, times, location, contact numbers)
- Reconfirm details with photographer (timeline, location, contact numbers)
- Finalize seating plan
- Write place cards
- Organize for note or gift to be delivered to your partner on the wedding day
- Pack for your honeymoon and ensure you leave all details with a friend in case of an emergency
- Reconfirm details with hairstylist & make-up artist (dates, times, location, contact numbers)
- Ensure your waxing/tanning is completed
- Have your teeth whitened
- Pick up wedding dress
- Arrange to have your wedding cake delivered to your venue
- Have ready the favors for your wedding day
- Arrange for food on the wedding day for you and the bridal party to make sure no one gets hangry!
1 day before
- Ensure your nails are manicured
- Have all the details ready to be photographed and videoed during getting ready tomorrow
- Run through the order of the day with the bridal party to ensure everyone knows what their roles and responsibilities are
- Get an early night
