Yorba Linda Richard Nixon Library Wedding | Dangvy + Andy

April 20, 2012 by D. Park Photography 2 Comments

Richard Nixon Library Elegant Wedding

Dangvy and Andy are a beautiful couple: elegant, poised, and genuinely kind.

We felt privileged to capture their love story and their beautifully moving wedding day.

love story

After 6 years of being close friends, Andy and Dangvy decided to go to the Getty Museum in Malibu, CA and decided that would be their first date. They were both nervous and Dangvy was worried that things might not work out and it would ruin the great friendship they had. Dangvy wouldn’t let Andy hold her hand and also told him not to fall for her because she didn’t see a future for them. This confused Andy but he also liked to prove Dangvy wrong so he just let her think she was in control. For the first time, Dangvy was glad that she was wrong because their relationship blossomed from that day on. Andy and Dangvy, while complete opposite, complement each other in every way and support each other through all aspects of life. Today, Andy and Dangvy can’t imagine life without each other and love what they have together. They look forward to adding onto their family and spending the rest of their lives together.

romantic proposal

The beautiful story from the bride | Andy suggested that we head up to the Getty after lunch. Before we left for lunch Andy changed into a collar shirt which was odd but I thought maybe he was just trying to look as nice as I did. We had lunch at Chronic Taco and started our commute to the Getty Museum. We got to the museum around 4pm and it was more crowded than normal but I didn’t care because this was the last day for the Da Vinci exhibit and I wanted to see it. I had brought my camera and wanted to pretend like I was a photographer (Andy agreed he would pose in my pictures). As we walked into the entrance of the Getty Museum there was a long line in front of the building where the Da Vinci exhibit was being housed so Andy said “I am not waiting in that line”. I was a bit disappointed and was hoping that the line would die down as it got closer to closing hour so I suggested that we walk around so that I can take pictures. We went out on a balcony where I pulled out my camera to take pictures of downtown LA (it was an amazing view).

As I took pictures, Andy pulled me towards him and told me that he has been trying to get me up here for a long time because this place was special to both of us. It was here that we had our first date and since then it has been an amazing journey. At this point, Andy pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I didn’t hear anything he said because I was staring at the shiny ring. I was in shock and if you know me, you know that it is very hard to catch me off guard but he did a great job because I was completely surprised. In fact I was so shocked that I just stood there (it may have been 5 minutes before I did anything) and finally I took the ring out of the box and Andy had to ask me “so what is your response”? At that moment I finally came back to reality and said “YES”! (Andy has his own version of what happened, which he will share in person) It felt like time stood still at that moment and as I looked around at the scenery and the man standing in front of me; I saw all of my dreams come true and could not have been happier.

We never saw Da Vinci’s sculptures that day instead went to the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel for dinner to celebrate. This was a special place as well because it was here that I knew I had fallen in love with Andy. It was during dinner that it finally hit me that I was starting a new journey with my best friend and soulmate.

wedding day

Dangvy, you were just freakin’ gorgeous on your wedding day my dear.

Loved this candid moment David captured as she got ready to meet Andy and her family for their traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony.

Dangvy’s dad kept us and all the guests in tears with his beautiful speech to Andy.
